Seri Contact Access Agreement

Effective Date: April 1, 2026

cornyLabs ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") accesses your device contacts to provide Seri's core feature: social connection search. This agreement explains how we access, use, and protect your contact information.

1. Why We Access Your Contacts

We access your contacts solely for the following purposes:

  1. Building your connection network: Identifying mutual connections between users to form your social network.
  2. Connection path search: Enabling you to discover how you are connected to someone through up to 6 degrees of separation.
  3. Confirming connections: Establishing a connection when both users have saved each other's phone numbers.

2. What We Collect from Your Contacts

We collect only the following fields from your contacts:

Field Purpose
Name Displaying the connected person's identity
Phone number Verifying connections, path search

We do not collect email addresses, physical addresses, birthdays, or any other contact fields.

3. How We Protect Contact Data

All collected contact data is protected as follows:

Data Method Notes
Phone number HMAC-SHA256 hash One-way; original cannot be recovered
Phone number AES-256-GCM Recoverable only with the encryption key
Name AES-256-GCM Shown only to mutually connected users

What is hashing? Your phone number is converted into a unique string through one-way encryption. Even we cannot see the original phone number — we can only verify whether two numbers match.

4. Contact Sync

  1. How sync works: Sync is manual. Your contacts are only synced when you explicitly tap the sync button. We do not sync your contacts automatically in the background.
  2. Scope: When you sync, all contacts are processed. You can exclude specific contacts by unchecking them in the Connection Management screen and saving.
  3. Removing a contact: Uncheck a contact in the Connection Management screen and save to remove it from sync.

5. How Connections Are Established

A connection between two users is established only when all of the following conditions are met:

  • Both users have Seri installed
  • Both users have saved each other's phone number in their contacts
  • Both users have synced their contacts with the Service

Examples

  • A saves B's number + B saves A's number → Connection established ✓
  • A saves B's number + B has not saved A's number → No connection ✗

6. Who Can See Your Information

Mutually connected users

Your display name (as set in your profile) is shown to users you are connected with. You may appear as an intermediate node in their connection path searches.

One-sided contact (you saved them, they haven't saved you)

You will not appear in their connection path searches. However, if they search for your phone number directly, you may appear as the final node in the result — since they already have your number.

Non-users (people who haven't installed Seri)

Non-users will not appear as intermediate nodes in any connection path. They may appear as the final node only if a user directly searches for their phone number.

7. Protection of Non-Users

If you are not a Seri user but your information has been synced by another user:

  • Your information will not be used as an intermediate node in any connection path.
  • You may request deletion of your data at any time. Upon request, your phone number will be added to a permanent blocklist and excluded from all future syncs.
  • Contact us through the in-app support menu or reach our Privacy Officer to submit a deletion request.

8. Revoking Contact Access

You may revoke Seri's contact access at any time through your device settings.

  • Revoking access stops any future contact syncs.
  • Previously synced data remains stored. To delete it completely, please delete your account through the Settings menu.

9. Data Deletion

  • Account deletion: All contact data and connection information is immediately and permanently deleted.
  • Device change: Because your account is tied to your device ID, switching to a new device resets your account and data.
  • Partial removal: Uncheck specific contacts in the Connection Management screen and save to remove them from sync.

10. This Agreement Is Required

Contact access is required to use the core features of Seri. If you wish to withdraw this agreement, you may do so by deleting your account through the Settings menu. All data will be immediately deleted upon account deletion.
