An exploration of connections starting from your phone book 🌌
In the vast and endless universe, our blue planet Earth is like a small jewel placed on the black velvet of space. On this small stage, over 7 billion people are living their own lives.
We each draw our own unique trajectory, yet at the same time we are bound by a great community—humanity. The person sitting next to you on the bus, the stranger you pass on the way home... all these people are fellow travelers standing together on this small planet called Earth.
We intuitively believe that we are all connected to others. This belief is dramatically expressed in the 'Six Degrees of Separation' theory.
The hypothesis is that everyone on Earth can reach everyone else through an average of just 6 connection links. In today's society with rapidly advancing IT technology, these connection links are likely even shorter.
So how many degrees of connection exist between you and me? This question goes beyond mere curiosity and marks the beginning of a journey to explore the depth of relationships we didn't know existed.
The innovative application 'Seri' that we developed provides answers to this fundamental question.
'Seri' takes inspiration from 'Serendipity' and brings the joy of discovering unexpected relationships while confirming 'hidden degrees of separation from the world'.
Seri explores invisible connection links between app users through 'contact lists'—the most direct medium of connection—and measures their length (degree of separation).
Seri's core function is to measure degrees of separation by using contacts saved in each other's contact lists as 'bridges' of connection.
You enter the phone number of a specific person you want to know into the app, or begin your search based on a caller ID.
Seri first searches through your connections. If the phone number you're searching for is there, you are connected in 1 degree.
If the person isn't in your contacts, Seri explores the next level. It checks the contact lists of all 'Seri' users (1st degree friends) saved in your connections. If one of your 1st degree friends has the target person's number saved, you and that person are connected in 2 degrees.
This process repeats continuously, calculating how many degrees of acquaintance network connect you to the stranger.
This method only works between users who have installed 'Seri' and agreed to share connection information, and calculates the connection degree most quickly and accurately based on real networks between users.
Find out in numbers how many degrees separate you from the person whose phone number you search. You can directly see the surprising result—'I'm connected to this stranger in just 3 degrees!'—and realize how small the world truly is.
It proves that fleeting acquaintances are actually connected through very close personal networks.
All phone number information used in connection exploration is processed in highly encrypted and anonymized form. Instead of exposing individuals' specific contact information, we focus on providing 'degree of connection' as the result.
Although we all live like independent islands, we are actually connected like vast continents through the powerful thread of contact lists. 'Seri' proves that connection and helps you realize how broadly your life is intertwined with the world.
Stop seeing people you pass by as mere 'others'. They are potential 'connections' existing just a few degrees away from you, capable of bringing new changes to your life at any moment.
Through Seri, experience just how small your world is and how closely connected we all are. Join us on a journey to decode the invisible network surrounding your life and discover new relationship possibilities that feel like serendipity.
